NOVASURE anyone? |
Lead | ||
|
Sorry to the men about to read this thread but.... I am a little anxious about a simple procedure I am having done on July 22. Has anyone ever heard of
Novasure? My gyno is going to put me to sleep, insert this thingie into me and cook the lining of my uterus (sorry had to say it). This is supposed to stop
me from having any more visits from Aunt Flo FOREVA! I am really doing it to relieve my cramps.....my flow is totally normal, but the cramps are severe! I
probably have no lining left to my stomach due to the amount of ibuprofen (nothing else works tried everything) that I have to eat during the first 2 days of
my cycle. Just nervous about having it done and wondered if anyone else here have had it done and if they could offer any advice.

My only concern is what are they using to destroy the lining and will it cause cooter funk later?
(P.S. Cooter funk is a technical medical term.)

If I knew it was safe, I'd do it in a heartbeat! Years of BRUTAL cramps and irregular cycles....I want a hyserectomy so bad! This sounds like it might be a
decent alternative.
*LMAO @ Lyn.....cooter funk!* Hoist the Colors! |

I've never heard of the procedure but I certainly hope it relieves you of the cramping. I can only imagine what iy does to you. I get pretty bad but mostly
because I'm harboring another myoma/fibroid that I must have removed. It's not quite big enough yet but it certainly feels like it's big enough. I
won't have any drastic measures taken simply because I want to try and have children one day (I know, I know!).
Good luck and I hope it goes well, Jo!

Cooter funk--only you Lyn!! LOL!!
If you go to the link it has a pretty simple explanation of what all is involved. However, to my understanding it's these heating coils that "bakes" your tootie lining. Darci--yes, a lot of my friends & coworkers alike have had this done as an alternative to hysterectomy. It only takes 90 seconds! The doc says it takes longer to put me to sleep/wake me up than the actual procedure does! Also, the doc says that next year insurance will pay for it to be done in the office with no anesthesia whatsoever, but I don't want to wait..just want NO MORE CURSE FROM EVE!! Everyone that I know that's had it done says that you are totally able to go back to normal everything the next day. So I am just a puss (yes pun intended) about the being put to sleep part.... Twy--if you have fibroids the alternative to Novasure is Hydro Thermal Ablation it is the "old way" but it is still used often. The Hydro way takes about 20 minutes and they use extremely hot water to cook you but is supposed to be just as effective. I had to have a vaginal ultrasound before the procedure to ensure that I did not have fibroids in order to pursue Novasure. And of course if your going be producing pretty babies down the road this is not for you now. It not a form of birth control since the wall of the uterus is being burnt it makes it harder for an egg to implant itself to the wall but you can STILL get prego. Thanks for the pozzies and I will let my sistas know how it goes..... |

I hope you like the results, Honey. I am still considering the hysterectomy because my mom has had cervical (the NON-HPV variety) and uteran cancer at a very
young age (29). I feel like a ticking time bomb sometimes.
ANYWAY, good luck with the procedure and enjoy your new "leakless" coochie! Hoist the Colors! |

So far so good. They started my IV at 9:20am and had me in recovery a little before 10 am. They put a scope up "there" to have one last look
around, then did a D&C, then the novasure, then put the scope up there once more to make sure they cooked me well done. I cramped a little the rest of the
day of the surgery, but nothing that 4 extra strength tylenol couldn't knock out. I was totally up and at em the next day. I will really know that it
worked when it's that time of the month next month. So......lets hope!

Wellllll...it's been about a month now since I had my "stuff" done. And life's a bitch. Guess what?? This bitch had another flippin
period! I called the Dr. because my cramps and flow were worse than before. He says that it's not uncommon for me to have a period after the procedure
and that I may continue to have one for the next 6 months! I go in for an ultrasound in about 2 weeks so they can check things out. I hope that I didn't
do this for nothing!!
