The opening act (Your Vegas) was pretty decent....kind of of a combination of Simple Minds and Coldplay.....not too bad. Cute, young boys playing music and having a good time (except for the lead singer, who has a broken foot).
DD took the stage and I heard 80 million 30 something moms screaming like banshees. The boys looked great and opened with "The Valley"......3 songs in and they did HLTW to liven up the place (even though I know it's their most hated song to play). It worked. I haven't been to a concert EVER where so many people in the audience were singing their hearts out....including me (horribley off key, of course) . I can't remember what song it was that they were playing when chickie-poo rushed Simon. It was friggin hilarious. She tackled him around the middle and just hung on. He tried to run and sing at the same time but security jumped right in and took her down. And Simon.....still gettin' jumped by babes at the age of 49......that's some old rock star appeal for ya!
The set list was the same as Elspeth's show, so I won't bore you with that.....she already covered it way better than I could anyway. Simon let the audience fill in for him anytime he forgot lyrics (often). The vibe was great and the crowd was more than appreciative. Cheeky Mister Rhodes seemed a bit more "smiley" than usual, which I loved. The man has a great smile that isn't seen often enough. Roger was his usual, reserved self, and John seemed happy, but a bit distracted. Not sure why. Simon was in normal form.......with the usual random high kick and naughty bit of chatter.
I had a great time and wish to God I could get some tix for that show in Vegas.
